About the ABEL eCampus

OnlineGroups.Net

The ABEL eCampus is managed under contract to ABEL by OnlineGroups.Net.

Online groups make it easy for people to hold conversations and share information in groups, without meeting face to face. OnlineGroups.Net provides technology and services to start online groups and support participation in them. They work with organisations, tertiary distance learning providers and on edemocracy projects. Groups of any size can start their own online groups site, and groups, at http://onlinegroups.net.

You can contact the OnlineGroups.Net team for support with the eCampus:

The ABEL eCampus runs on the GroupServer collaboration platform developed by OnlineGroups.Net.

GroupServer

GroupServer is an open source Web Application server that supports online collaboration using email groups. It can be used to set up a website for hosting groups, such as those at OnlineGroups.Net, or as in the case of the ABEL eCampus. GroupServer is highly customisable and has been extended to provide the results functionality used on the eCampus. It also supports surveys (used for eCampus Feedback forms and reports) and content publication (used for eCampus News). GroupServer is built using Zope, Python, XML, XSLT and CSS, and to comply with open standards.

GroupServer is released under the open source GPL license. The download, more information about GroupServer and the project online groups are at http://groupserver.org.
